A practice built on relationship.
Tidewater Mind Therapy began with a simple frustration: therapy that felt cold, rushed or one-size-fits-all. So we built the practice we wanted to refer our own loved ones to — small by design, warm by nature, and serious about the science.
Kept small, on purpose.
Many practices grow until therapists carry caseloads of forty or more and clients become time slots. We chose the opposite: eighteen clinicians, each with room to prepare, to remember the details, and to genuinely know you.
That size lets us do things bigger practices can’t — match you thoughtfully instead of assigning whoever’s free, answer your first message within two days, and hold a few reduced-fee spots for people who need them.
We’re based in Norfolk, Virginia, in the heart of the Tidewater region, and we see clients across the state online. Wherever you meet us, you’ll find the same unhurried, human welcome.
How we work, in practice.
Evidence-based, never clinical
CBT, EFT, attachment-based and somatic approaches — chosen for what the research supports and what fits you, explained in plain language, never jargon.
Affirming for everyone
LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally responsive, and welcoming of every family shape and relationship structure. You never have to educate us about who you are.
Relationships at the core
The strongest predictor of good outcomes isn’t a technique — it’s the therapeutic relationship. We invest in it from the first hello, and review it with you often.
The people behind Tidewater.
All therapistsCome as you are. We’ll take it from there.
A free consultation, a thoughtful match, and a room — physical or virtual — that’s ready when you are.
